Created by the comedy theatre group SpitLip, Operation Mincemeat first opened in London’s fringe theatres before transferring to the Fortune Theatre in the West End in 2023, where it won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The show tells the real-life story of a daring wartime ruse, using quick costume changes, witty lyrics and smart characterisation to bring history to life.
The musical has been praised for its intelligence, originality and heart, combining British humour with emotional depth. Its inventive style allows a small cast to fill the stage with creativity and energy. Now touring the UK, Operation Mincemeat continues to prove that even the most serious moments in history can inspire inventive and uplifting theatre.
