The musical version of the beloved film was written by the original film’s screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen, with music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini. The UK tour opens in April 2026, before travelling to cities across the UK
The creative team includes director Amon Miyamoto and choreographers Keone & Mari Madrid, while scenic design is by Derek McLane, costumes by Ayako Maeda and lighting by Bradley King..
Though grounded in the 1984 film that became a cultural phenomenon worldwide, the musical seeks to give the story fresh life for the stage and for modern audiences, with casting to be announced.
